What is a sibling doula?

A sibling doula cares for your older child while you are giving birth. Your doula stays with your child, keeps them calm, and helps them understand what is happening in an age-appropriate way, so you can focus fully on labor and your new baby. It is dedicated, caring support for the sibling during one of the biggest moments in your family’s life.

Why hire a sibling doula instead of a babysitter?

A sibling doula does more than watch your child. Trained in both birth and child development, your doula helps your older child through the transition of becoming a big brother or sister, while keeping them in their normal routine. That means your partner can stay by your side during the birth, knowing your child is in caring, capable hands.

How long does a sibling doula stay during the birth?

Our sibling doula package includes up to 24 hours of care during your labor and birth. Your doula also visits your home twice before the baby arrives, so your child can get to know them and feel comfortable and safe when the time comes.
